Coming soon – Search Burial Records
The South Stormont Cemetery Preservation Association is currently negotiating with a private company to assist in compiling, reconciling, digitizing, and verifying historical burial records for cemeteries throughout South Stormont.
Our proposed cemetery digitization project will include:
- Historical Burial Records: Collecting and reconciling existing cemetery registers, burial lists, monument transcriptions, and other historical records.
- Digital Cemetery Mapping: Using drone imagery and cemetery mapping technology to document cemetery grounds and identify individual gravesites.
- Gravestone Documentation: Recording monument locations, inscriptions, photographs, and other available information associated with individual burials.
- Field Verification: Comparing existing records with gravestones and physical cemetery conditions to identify discrepancies and improve accuracy.
- Searchable Online Records: Developing an accessible online resource that will allow genealogists, descendants, and researchers to search available burial information and locate documented gravesites.
Our goal is to provide genealogists, family historians, descendants, and other researchers with reliable access to cemetery burial information while helping preserve these important historical records for future generations.
We are beginning with Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Dixon Cemetery, and St. George’s Anglican Cemetery in Gallingertown, with additional cemeteries to follow as records become available.
The scope and availability of these services will depend on the outcome of our negotiations and the completion of the necessary documentation and verification work.
We appreciate your patience as we develop this important historical resource.
