The objects of the corporation are:
- Coordination and Support of Cemetery Boards
To support and assist cemetery volunteer boards, trustees, and community cemetery organizations located within the Township of South Stormont through coordination, shared resources, administrative assistance, and modernization initiatives while preserving the identity, governance, and autonomy of each participating cemetery.
- Preservation and Stewardship
To promote the preservation, respectful maintenance, and long-term stewardship of active, inactive, and abandoned cemeteries, burial grounds, monuments, and associated heritage features.
- Record Preservation and Documentation
To collect, preserve, digitize, and maintain cemetery records, burial registers, maps, and historical documentation relating to cemeteries and individuals interred therein.
- Modernization and Technology
To support the modernization of cemetery administration through the development and use of electronic recordkeeping systems, digital plot identification, and geographic information systems (GIS) mapping of cemetery sites.
- Education and Public Awareness
To promote public awareness and education concerning cemetery heritage, local history, and the cultural significance of burial grounds through research, publications, and community outreach.
- Volunteer and Community Engagement
To encourage and coordinate volunteer participation in cemetery preservation, restoration, documentation, and maintenance activities.
- Funding and Resource Development
To raise and receive funds through donations, grants, sponsorships, fundraising activities, and other lawful means to support cemetery preservation and heritage protection.
- Partnerships and Collaboration
To collaborate with municipalities, religious organizations, historical societies, community groups, and other organizations for the purpose of protecting cemetery heritage and improving cemetery management practices.
